Penny hung drawings

2012-2014
A series of collages printed on vinyl coated canvas, hung from the wall by a penny wedged into the surface of the drywall. The prints include images of a chair constructed from a woman in bondage, a prehistoric fertility figure, an archeological dig, hands shaping a pot on a spinning wheel, laborers on strike, a war memorial among other things. Held in place by our smallest monetary unit these works link sculpture, the logic of built forms and the reproductive body, to a larger cultural symbology of value and signification.
